Senior Choir

The Senior Choir is for students in Years 4, 5 and 6. Students must join at the beginning of the year and commit to rehearsals and performances for the whole year. Choir members must uphold the responsibilities and agreements in the Choir Code of Conduct. Choir members are selected for performances based on the attitude and commitment they show in rehearsals. Performances include assembly items, selected whole school events and community events as chosen by the Choir Director. For more information please email the Choir Director.

O’Connor Primary School has registered to take part in the 2017 Goldfields Eisteddfod being held at the Goldfields Arts Centre. There are two groups performing in the Eisteddfod. Eisteddfod Parent Program. These include the Year 3 Junior Choir and the Year 4-6 Senior Choir. Parent information letter. Please see the Skoolbag App to sign the permission form to attend. A paper copy can be downloaded here, if needed, or is available from the school office.

Goldfields Eisteddfod  2015 information
O’Connor Primary School may register to take part in the 2015 Goldfields Eisteddfod being held at the Goldfields Arts Centre. Last year there were 3 groups performing in the Eisteddfod. These include the Year 3 Junior Choir, Year 4-7 Senior Choir and a Character Group.

Active Club

O'Connor Primary Schools offers a before school Active Club to encourage children to start the day on a healthy note. Chidlren can join Mr Sims and Mr Malatios on the oval every Wednesday and Friday morning from 8.10am. Children who participate will receive a token for participation. The tokens are to be taken back to the classroom teacher.

The idea behind the club is to:  

  • Motivate year 1-6 children to exercise.
  • Help students control body weight.           
  • Help students burn off excess energy.
  • Improve school performance.
  • Build self-esteem.

Active Club will start at 8:10am on the oval steps. Students call walk,jog, run laps of the oval with their friends. It will finish at 8:25am, giving students enough time to have a drink, collect bags and be ready for the 8:30am siren.

Senior Clubs

Senior students in Year 4 to 6 participate in a special program on a Friday afternoon between 1.50pm and 2.40pm. The aim of this activity is to provide an opportunity for students to develop team work, communication skills and self esteem. Students are able to develop friendships and work with students and teachers outside their normal classroom.

Clubs provides a chance for students to experience success and fun at school in an alternative environment. Throughout the program special guests are invited to assist. Students are able to select a group to participate in a variety of activities throughout the year. Some examples from previous years include the following activities;

To assist in the cost of providing such a program, parents are asked to pay a contribution of $10 for the year. If you are able to volunteer your time or skills on a Friday afternoon please contact Mrs Brown to make arrangements.

Sports Academy

The Sports Academy meets and trains once a week with Shane and MrSims . Students not only practise their sportsskills, but they learn about health and nutrition as well. Students in upper primary (Year  6) are able to join the SportsAcademy . Inclusion in this Academy is dependent on student behaviour and partiicpation in class.
 
In Term 2 the Football Academy may participate in the Eagles Cup competition against other local schools.
 
In Term 4 there will be a reward lunch for the students. Parents are requested to fill out teh form on skoolbag

Peer Support

During lunchtime we run a program that aims to give older children the skills to help younger children. One of the activities is art and craft in the Block 3 Wetarea.
Other activities include outside games, outdoor giant board games such as connect four, skipping and bubble blowing.
Both the younger and older children really enjoy the activities.

Swimming Lessons 2017

Swimming Lessons Term 2 Weeks 5 to 10 all groups will have a nine day program.

Swimming Enrolment form - This form is for the swimming supervisor and must be filled in paper. A copy was sent home with children - it is green, pink or yellow.
 
 
All Swimming Enrolment Forms must be returned by: 12th May to the classroom teacher.
Payment must be made by the end of term via cash to the teacher or bank deposit. Please do not send forms and payment to the office. All Enrolment Forms must be fully completed - incomplete forms cannot be accepted and will be returned.

All Groups

Members of the Goldfields Oasis must supply membership numbers to the classroom teacher with the enrolment forms
 
Please send individual payments with each child. Payment must be received by individual teachers – please do not send enrolment forms and money with siblings.
 
Correct money must be sent – unfortunately change is not available at the office.
Direct Debit to the school bank account is preferred.
 
                                                                                      
 
Goldfields Oasis Rules
 
1. NO FORMS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THE CUT OFF DATE Thursday 15th May (Weeks 5 and 6 Green Group) 22nd May (Weeks 7-10 Pink and Yellow Groups).
2. Asthma medication must be on pool deck everyday or alternatively a short note from the parent explaining that medication is not required whilst swimming.
3. Plantar warts must be covered at all times whilst in the pool area. Please record this under ‘medical condition’ on the enrolment form.
4. Children with head lice and other infectious diseases are unable to participate.
Parents wishing to watch their children swim will be required to pay the spectator entrance fee of $2.00 per day directly to Oasis.

  


Environmental Group

The Environmental group meet at lunchtimes every Thursday to help in the vegie patch and assist around the school in all things environmental. All children are welcome to join the Environmental Group - see Mr Fitts in the Junior Science room.
 
 

Waste Free Lunch - 21st June 2016

 

The Environment Team has been working hard this semester with trying to educate the children of O’Connor Primary School about the 3 R’s; Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.

Some tips to reduce waste include:
• Use washable containers
• Bring a drink bottle instead of juice boxes
• Bring fruit
• Cut up food and put in containers that can be reused
