iPad Program for Year 5 students
The iPad progam started in 2015 when the children were in Year 3. We have choosen Year 3 as this year level represents smaller class numbers before moving into middle schooling. As the children enter Year 4, the learning will be extended and children will have the opportunity to learn from a wider range of sources; explore a wider range of technologies and show deeper reflection on their learning and goal alignment. The children will use the selected device for Years 3, 4, 5 and 6. A list of recommended apps is included for parent information.
Please see this short video on the importance of an iPad program.

A parent agreement must be signed so that student iPads can be added to the school network. Please return to school as soon as possible.

For purchase options of iPads please visit out iPad information page.

Room 29 -  Mrs Jennifer Carlisle Year 4/5

About the teacher -

Welcome to room 29! I am your child’s teacher, Mrs Carlisle.

It’s my first year teaching primary school full time and it’s a great thrill to be at such a happy and inviting school as O’Connor Primary School. I am new to Kalgoorlie and I am slowly learning to make my way around the town. When I’m not in school I enjoy craft work, especially patchwork and embroidery. I also love to get out into the bush and go camping (I’m hoping to find a dam full of yabbies!) and I love to go fishing with my husband and little dog.

I’m really looking forward to getting to know all of the children in my class and help them on their learning journey. In my classroom I would love to create a supportive environment, embracing the FAIR values that are used throughout the school. At O’Connor we use the Western Australian Curriculum and each year level will be catered for in this mixed class.

I am available most mornings and afternoons for a quick chat about any important issues, however if you think that it will take more time, please feel free to email me or ring the school to make an appointment.

If you have anything to discuss my door is always open for a quick chat or please feel free to email or call the school for an appointment.

Room 18 - Ms Jo Dooley Year 5

About the teacher -

Hi, my name is Joanne Dooley and I will be your child’s teacher this year.  This is the ninth year I have taught at this amazing school and I am looking forward to guiding your child through their Year 5 journey.  I believe in delivering a learning program aimed at the individual needs of students so they may achieve the success of which they are capable.

I am involved in many activities in the local community.  I am currently serving as President of the Stage Left Theatre Troupe in Boulder and Vice President of Friends of the Art Centre.  On the weekends, I teach acting classes to junior members of Stage Left Theatre Troupe.  When time permits I love reading, arts and crafts, travelling and music.  My daughter and I have lived in Kalgoorlie for ten years, which isn’t bad considering we were only coming for two years.

Parents/ guardians are always welcome in the classroom and if you ever need to meet about your child’s progress or any other concerns, please feel free to see me before or after school.  If you would like to schedule a meeting, you can contact me via phone or email the school to make an appointment.

Room 30 - Miss Shantelle Smith Year 5

About the teacher -
My name is Shantelle Smith and I will be your child’s teacher in room 30. I finished my Education degree in 2016 and have just recently moved to Kalgoorlie. In my spare time I enjoy spending it with my friends and family, being creative and playing sports.
I am very excited to be teaching year 5, seeing them grow up to be the next school leaders for O’Connor Primary School.  I have high expectations of my students in all areas including behaviour, work and participation. I encourage all students to be organised ensuring that they have a hat and water bottle daily.
If you have any questions or have anything you would like to discuss, feel free to contact me via email or pop in for a quick chat.
